Elementary School Holds First Trimester Awards Assemblies

On November 18th, the elementary site had their first trimester awards assemblies outdoors. We really wanted to celebrate the students' accomplishments since COVID has put a damper on a lot of the festivities these past couple of months.

Joanna and I had been in talks in September to decide how we were going to make it happen. We were thinking about using Goulding Hall or a possible larger venue, but felt the best place would be an outdoor event. Joanna went to work on the decorating and the overall layout of the event.

In our discussions, we wanted to limit the number of participants to 10 students from each class who could bring 2 guardians. We felt that was the best bet so we could ensure social distancing and properly monitor the event. Parents and students were great and followed the protocols getting temperature checks before the assemblies. Each assembly was 45 minutes long and involved seat sanitation after each rotation. We also set up a photo booth with a fall backdrop for parents to get some pictures of their kiddos.

Awards for students included: Student of the Trimester, Special Recognition, and most improved. It turned out to be a great fall day with leaves falling and cool weather. Parents were really appreciative of the event and seeing their students recognized for their accomplishments.
