Students Make Presentations at Board Meeting

Lucerne Valley Unified School District student representatives gave their monthly updates at the Thursday, February 13th meeting of the district’s Board of Trustees. The following are some of the items the students shared:

LVHS FFA Student Presentation by Victoria Enright and Patricia Vick: According to Victoria and Patricia, the Lucerne Valley FFA had 16 students attend the MFE and ALA leadership conferences in Ontario. Six FFA members competed in the High Desert Sections of “Super Saturday.” Patricia Vick, Amaya Kelly and Estephani Cazales took 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Job Interview category. Roberta Fernandez took 5th in Impromptu and Lona Malone took 1st place in Creed. At the December 18th Winter Meeting Lucerne Valley had 40 students who made snowmen out of socks and gnomes from clay pots. The Officer Team took its annual retreat to Indio. Eyeing the upcoming San Bernardino County Fair in Victorville that opens on May 24th, Lucerne Valley FFA has started getting their fair animals. Currently there are 15 pigs on campus.

Upcoming FFA events are Bowling Night, Hockey Night and the Regional Speaking Competition.

LVES Eagle Leadership Representatives Annaleigh Locarnini and Annika Leff: Annaleigh and Annika shared a number of exciting things going on at the Elementary School. The school honored Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, had a 101 Dalmatians themed day to celebrate the 101 days of school, celebrated Counselor Week with school counselor Ms. Carter, and the 5th grade had its American Revolution walk-through. Also, Mrs. Hannon received a $900 STEM grant through the Assistance League of Victor Valley.

LVMS ASB Student Presentation by Lillianna Berletich: Lillianna talked about the Middle School sports spring offerings starting up. She also talked about upcoming Winter formal, and much more.

LVHS ASB Student Presentation by Aurora Berletich: On January 30, the High School held a pep rally. She discussed the upcoming Winter formal. The school also held a clothing drive contest. The ASB has been selling carnations for $1 per flower, and the school held a “black out” shirt day.
