Ninety-nine Lucerne Valley Elementary School 6th graders were promoted to Middle School during a ceremony on Wednesday, May 21st in Lucerne Valley Middle High’s Sgt. Brian Walker Memorial Gymnasium.
The promotion ceremony was divided into two parts, Program A and Program B, due to the especially large size of the class.
Teacher Jamie Farrell welcomed the attendees and introduced students as they entered the gym to “Pomp and Circumstance.” Student Cruz Gonzales led the “Pledge of Allegiance” in the first program and Estrella Contreras Ferrer performed the honors in the second followed by a message from Principal Joanna Mora. Special recognition awards were given by students Annaleigh Locarnini, Anika Leff, and Donovan Michaels in the first program, and Faith Berletich received an award in the second..
Teachers Mrs. Klinger, Mr. Jennison and Ms. Lopez presented the promotion certificates in the first program and Mrs. Hankins, Mr. Hassan and Ms. Lopez presented the certificates in the second followed by student speeches from Camila Kelsey and Rose Sanchez in the first program, and Faith Berletich and Brooklynn Wilburn in the second. A slide show of student photos showcased a SOAR presentation.
Assistant Principal Suzie Manley gave a message and the audience was dismissed to “Celebrate.”
