Kindergartner Edgar Woods Navarro and 5th-grader Mia Helgadalen were recognized as the Students of the Month for Lucerne Valley Elementary School at the April 9th meeting of the Lucerne Valley USD’s Board of Trustees.
Lucerne Valley Elementary School Principal Joanna Mora presented the awards and shared why the students were nominated.
Edgar Woods Navarro - Kindergarten
“So Edgar, every month our teachers nominate students, and they say all these wonderful things. You were chosen because you are an amazing kid. I'm going to say a few things about you, okay?”
This is how Mrs. Mora began her presentation with Edgar.
“So this is what your teacher Ms. (Meaghan) Bankston said about you: Edgar is the most polite student I know. He is caring, thoughtful, and so patient with his peers. He has a spark in his eyes that shows his inner joy for learning and experiencing all that kinder has to offer. I'm so proud to be his teacher and share his learning day with him. Soar on, Edgar, soar on. So good job, my love.”
Mia Helgadalen - Fifth Grade
“Mia comes to school each day prepared, motivated, and eager to learn. She is bright and an outstanding student who consistently strives to reach her full potential in everything she does,” Mrs. Mora shared.
“Mia is also incredibly kind and thoughtful, always willing to lend a helping hand to those around her. She goes above and beyond to support her classmates and assist her teacher whenever needed, making her a wonderful role model for others.
Mia is also an amazing sister, and I get my help every day from her. She's a very awesome kid and we love her.”
