Principal: Japanese Students to Visit, Teach

Later this school year, Lucerne Valley Elementary School will roll out the red carpet for a group of international visitors, according to Mr. Burt Umstead, principal of LVES.

Forty-one foreign exchange students are coming to the elementary school campus to teach all grades about life in Japan.

Mr. Umstead made the announcement during his monthly report at the January 11 school board meeting.

He also said that NextGen Math CEO came to the school site to lead the training with LVES teachers who are using the NextGen program for intervention and enrichment. Mr. Umstead also complimented the school's fourth-graders for their engaging participation in "California Walk Through." The sixth grade students continue to participate in organized sports games every Friday, he added.
