The building materials were deliciously classic, and the smiles authentically real as the annual gingerbread house making event took place in Lucerne Valley Elementary School’s Goulding Hall on Tuesday, December 18.
Historically, the event was for kindergarteners only, but this year kindergarten teacher Mrs. Leigh Hannon decided to solicit the assistance of some older students. So the kindergarteners and transitional-kindergartners were joined by LVES 6th-graders.
“They work more as partners,” Mrs. Hannon said.
The ample supplies — graham crackers, frosting and candy — were donated by the parents. Students assembled their sweet houses onto milk cartons.
“We had an amazing amount of donations this year,” said Mrs. Hannon. “There’s a wonderful feeling of support from the families.”
